Medal of Gratitude
Juan Motilla S.L. receives the City of Valencia's Medal of Gratitude for its charitable work following the Campanar fire.
The Valencian citrus company Juan Motilla S.L. has been honoured with the Medal of Gratitude of the City of Valencia, an award granted by the City Council to organisations and individuals who stood out for their solidarity and collaboration during the tragic fire that devastated two residential blocks in the Campanar district on 22 February 2024.
The award ceremony took place on 28 May in the Iturbi Hall of the Palau de la Música, in a collective tribute filled with emotion and respect. Presided over by the Mayor, María José Catalá, the event brought together representatives from emergency services, NGOs, companies, professional associations, media outlets, and other entities that, like Juan Motilla S.L., helped to ease the impact of one of the most tragic episodes the city has experienced in recent years.
“We receive this distinction with humility and deep emotion. For us, it was not a choice but a duty — to be there, to help, and to contribute,” said Juan Motilla Ferrandis, Deputy to the General Management of the company.
Motilla Ferrandis added:
“We do not forget that 2024 was an especially difficult year, not only because of the Campanar fire but also due to the impact of the DANA storm that severely affected our region. Our thoughts and respect remain with the victims and all those who have suffered the most.”
This year, the Valencia City Council reinstated the Medal of Gratitude, first created in 1957 after the great flood, to acknowledge “the immediate, coordinated, and selfless collaboration in support of those affected,” in the words of the Mayor. A total of 67 medals were awarded in this edition.
